PERFORM

Cirk Hes uses performance as a core part of learning, progression and professional development, rather than simply as an end product.

We create regular opportunities for participants to perform in supportive settings, from in-house sharings and student galas to community events, festivals and public theatre performances across Cornwall. These experiences give young people and adults meaningful goals to work towards while developing confidence, resilience, teamwork, responsibility, stagecraft and creative ambition.

For more experienced participants, performance provides clear progression routes into devising, peer leadership, assisting younger performers and gaining experience of professional production environments.

By placing participants in front of real audiences, we help them recognise themselves not only as learners, but as emerging artists whose creativity has value.

Our work also contributes to the resilience of Cornwall’s wider circus and live-performance sector. We support locally based and touring freelance circus artists, technicians and production crew through access to specialist space, practical advice and knowledge-sharing, particularly around aerial rigging methods, equipment, safe systems of work and the technical requirements of presenting aerial performance in different venues.

This helps artists and organisations make better-informed decisions about how work is created, rehearsed and presented safely, while strengthening local technical knowledge and reducing barriers to producing ambitious circus work in Cornwall.

In this way, Cirk Hes acts not only as a training and performance organisation, but as part of the professional infrastructure that supports freelance employment, skills development, safer practice, artistic progression and a more sustainable regional creative economy.
